Flood appeal pays out
PA Blenheim More people affected by the Wairau River floods in Marlborough have benefited from an appeal fund which drew contributions from many parts of New Zealand, and from Australia and Britain. The trustees of the combined “Marlborough Express” newspaper and Blenheim Mayoral flood relief
appeal have distributed a further $5500. This brought the total amount distributed to more than $43,000. However, the trustees say that unfortunately there were insufficeint funds to help farmers who lost stock, hay, and income. Most of the money was distributed to people whose homes were damaged by the flood waters.
