Hurdles career?
Special correspondent Dunedin
Noble River, winner of the $30,000 Winter Cup at Riccarton last Saturday, may soon race over hurdles. The chance of Noble River racing at Wanganui next month is receding because of lack of suitable transport. It was hoped to race him in the $22,500 Tim Rogers Stakes, a weight-for-age metric mile on September 3.
Hector Anderton, jun., his trainer, said he was consid-
erine starting Noble River in the Wilson Memorial on the first of the Otago spring meeting and the hurdles on the second day. Mr Jack White, the owner of the horse, is keen for him to race over hurdles. Noble River needs one more satisfactory bout before a stipendiary steward to qualify for hurdle races.
