Railways head appointed
PA Wellington The Railways Corporation board has appointed Mr H.
G. Purdy as the new general manager, said the corporation’s chairman, Mr L. M. Papps, last evening. Mr Purdy is the deputy general manager. He will
succeed Mr T. M. Hayward, who will retire in November.
Mr Purdy joined the Railways in 1951 and became assistant general manager (personnel) in 1979. He was appointed deputy general manager in 1980.
