Dropped goal record
The four dropped goals by the Merivale-Papanui first five-eighths, Deane McKinnel, against Suburbs at Denton Oval on Wednesday evening took his tally in senior rugby this season to 13. That equalled the record
set in 1979 by John Neilson (Suburbs) and which was matched earlier this season by the Canterbury and Belfast utility back, Kieran Keane. McKinnel kicked eight of his 13 dropped goals in his last four matches.
