“The Sinclair Story”
Sir,—ln March, 1971, at Waihola, there assembled some 500 descendants of James and Anne Sinclair, formerly from Scapa in the Orkney Islands, who settled there after arriving at Dunedin in April, 1857. A booklet, “The Sinclair Story,” was written by Jill Dignan and included research by the late Leila Robinson. It covers much detail of the South Island families, but regrettably does not contain sufficient data to confirm their correct sequences or locations. I have drafted a register listing three prior generations of the original immigrants and their other kin and descendants who reside in Britain and elsewhere. I would appreciate hearing from members of the New Zealand side of this family who can supply me with information of their past and present relatives and their progress. — Yours, etc., ROLAND G. SINCLAIR, Stroma, 59 Park Road, Chiswick, LONDON, W4 3EY, England. August 8, <1983.
