The Freeport, which has also been called the Jalanta and the Cameronia, is a 29,709 ton bulk carrier which was built at the Skibsbyggeri yards, Kobenhavn, in 1973. This is her first visit to the port. Earlier this month the Kilmun loaded 25,449 tonnes of coal for Japan. Her gross load rate of 333.7 tonnes/hr was lower than expected but caused by one 18,000 tonne stockpile of coal being a considerable distance from the hopper. Her net loading rate was 379.5 tonnes/hr. The Kilmun had called at Lyttelton previously, but under a different name. The vessel, built in 1976, called in 1977 and again in 1980 under the name of Cape Ortegal. About 250,000 tonnes of West Coast coal is expected to be exported from Lyttelton between June and March next year. This, is about the same amount as last year. ARRIVALS Union Hobart (6 a.m.), 7299, Wellington (U.M.S.). Spirit of Free Enterprise (7 ajn.), 1204, Wellington (Pacifica).
