Top fillies to race in U.S.

PA Wellington Two of last season’s top juvenile fillies, Nordic Seal and Era of Triumph, will do their future racing in the United States, Mr John Richardson, of Carbine Bloodstock Agency, said in a statement this week. Nordic Seal, winner of four races as a two-year-old for John Wheeler’s New Plymouth stable, including success over the best colts in the Group One Manawatu Sire’s Produce Stakes, 'has been sold for an undisclosed six figure sum to Californian interests, Mr Richardson said. Era of Triumph which included among her stakes victories the Avondale and Wellesley Stakes, raced in New Zealand for the partnership of Messrs D. W. Jackson and D. Wright.

She is leased and will race around the top racetracks of Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar, where her potential earning power was conservatively stated to be over 10 times that possible in New Zealand.

Mr Richardson said she was expected to make her United States debut at the Oaktree meeting at Santa Anita in October or early November and would be trained by the successful young Canadian, Laurie N. Anderson.

Accompanying Era of Triumph and Nordic Seal on today’s plane to the United States will be the durable sprinter, The also sold through the Carbine Agency to California. The Tracker has 15 career successes, including five, wins last season.
