Children in Care appeal
Sir, — Last Saturday, the fiftieth annual house-to-house collection was held for the Christchurch Churches’ Appeal Trust for Children in Care. As chairperson of the trust, I express the warmest thanks of our members to all who contributed in different ways to making this another successful appeal. We are grateful to our faithful organisers and collectors who went out cheerfully to approach the Canterbury public who, as usual, generously supported this very worthy cause, a cause which, last year, provided care for nearly 3000 disadvantaged children. Many thanks to those who gave and also to the efficient team who helped with the counting. Regrettably, several areas were not supplied with appeal envelopes and, because of an insufficient number of collectors, other areas were not canvassed. If either of these factors prevented giving, we ask that donations be sent to P.O. Box 2453, Christchurch. — Yours, etc., ANNE M. McCORMACK, Chairperson, Churches’ Appeal Trust. August 1, 1983.
