Air pollution high
Smoke levels in Christchurch on Monday night were higher than the maximum recommended by the World Health Organisation. The average smoke level in the 24 hours to 8 a.m. yesterday was 174 micrograms per cubic metre. The W.H.O. recommends the level not to exceed 150 micrograms per cubic metre.
Sulphur dioxide for the same period registered a medium level of 57 micrograms per cubic metre.
