T.A.B. times
Sir,—What a nice coloured book the T.A.B. has put out as a guide to jetbet betting, introducing a speedier service for customers. But it does not mention anything about jetbet results through the week. Why should punters have to wait sometimes 25 minutes to threequarters of an hour for the results of doubles races. A gentleman from the T.A.B. was on TV one night recently complaining about the revenue it was losing because of the rugby tests. People could bet before they went to a test. I would suggest that the T.A.B. return to the good old days when we could listen on the radio to the doubles races which makes it a lot more interesting.—Yours, etc., A. WHITE. Kaiapoi, July 18, 1983.
[Mr D. A. Woodhouse, district manager, T.A.8., Christchurch, replies: “The T.A.B. is not in a position to dictate to or request the Broadcasting Corporation of New Zealand as to which races are broadcast. While it is appreciated that some years ago doubles races were broadcast live, this policy has since been changed and generally speaking doubles races are now broadcast only on Saturdays and statutory holidays. A result service is operated by the T.A.8., phone number 389-039, and most results are confirmed approximately 20 minutes after race start times.”]
