Progress slow on limbs centre

The Health Department wants to see “facts and figures” before it approves the proposal to move the Artificial Limb Centre from Riccarton Road to Christchurch Hospital. Representatives from the department met the North Canterbury Hospital Board and members of the Artificial Limb Board yesterday after plans to resite the centre and the hospital orthotic department in an empty hospital stores building had stagnated. The hospital board’s planning officer, Mr E. R. Bennett, said yesterday that the department wanted more details on the proposal, including how facilities in the stores .building could be shared, before it approved the plans. “We have to get together a few facts and figures and some ideas and submit them to the department,” he said. The Artificial Limb Board, which is based in Wellington, administers the centre.
