Jail for assault
PA Auckland A man who admitted an assault on a woman traffic officer was jailed for six months when he appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday. Felix Anthony Simons, aged 22, unemployed, of Henderson, had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting traffic officer Mary Anne Patersen, with intent to facilitate his escape after unlawfully taking a motor-cycle, a charge which he also admitted.
Judge Wallace sentenced him to six months’ jail on both the charges. Simons was given a threemonth sentence for an earlier burglary. He also pleaded guilty to two new charges of assaulting Paul William Butler, also to facilitate his flight after unlawfully taking the motorcycle for which he was sentenced to six months jail. Simons admitted driving a motor vehicle while disqualified and for that was sentenced to one month in jail and disqualified from holding a licence for 12 months. All the jail terms were concurrent.
