Critics praise Greer Robson

Greer Robson, the Auckland actress, has been praised in two reviews of the New Zealand movie “Smash Palace” in London.
She plays the seven-year-old daughter of the estranged couple in Roger Donaldson’s movie which has opened in London. The “Daily Telegraph” critic says Greer Robson is “a delight at every appearance.”
The review, which erroneously refers to the Australian actress, Anna Jemison, as a New Zealander, says that she and Keith Aberdein, as the bewildered wife and family go-between whose motives spark much fury, “remind us that New
Zealand acting isn’t always what it might be. “But Miss Robson, as the long-suffering daughter, speaks truth at every turn without apparently trying.” A review in “The Times” says the playing in the film, “not least by the very unselfconseious child actress Greer Robson,” is exem-
“Bruno Lawrence, who plays Al and also has a screenplay credit, is a long established pop-musician who has only recently turned to acting. He conveys at once toughness, subjugated violence and sensibility,” the review, by David Robinson, says. “Smash Palace” shows the New Zealand cinema competing strongly against the Australians,” it says.
