$33M plan proves flop
NZPA-Reuter London A £l4 million (SNZ33 million) oil platform yard built by the British Government in 1976 will be filled in without having received an order., the Secretary of State for Scotland has announced. The yard at Portavadie
was built in the hope that Britain could cash in on the concrete oil platform construction market. It will cost £915,000 (SNZ2.I million.) to fill in. The 10 hectare village of Pollphail was created nearby to accommodate a non-existent workforce.
