£50M alimony claimed
NZPA-AP London Sheikha Dena al-Fassi has filed suit in London to collect the record divorce settlement she won from her Saudi Arabian former husband in Los Angeles. In a High Court writ the Sheikha, aged 23, claimed £ 50 million (SNZIIB million) from Sheik Muhammad al-Fassi, aged 28, a member of the Saudi royal family.
Alternatively, the writ said Sheikha al-Fassi seeks an equal share with her former husband in his English home, luxury cars, jewellery, antiques and business and banking interests, including the Arab Bank in fashionable Park Lane and Coutts and Company bankers in Knightsbridge. The writ also seeks damages against al-Fassi, his father, Sheikh Shamsuddin Abdullah al-Fassi, and their
business agent, Howar Ziad. for alleged conspiracy. Mrs al-Fassi alleged the three defendants conspired in England and elsewhere to defeat her claims for alimony by “transferring, concealing or otherwise disguising” true ownership of property. She claimed her former husband and his father told her they have taken steps to put property beyond her reach.
In the writ, Mrs al-Fassi sought injunctions against disposal of any property claimed by the three and against any efforts to stop payments to her. Mr David Sarch, her London attorney, refused to comment on the case. The al-Fassi’s were married in California in March, 1975. Mrs al-Fassi now lives in Beverly Hills.
