New C.T.C. principal
Christchurch Teachers’ College’s new principal will be Mr lan Stewart, the present deputy principal.
Mr Stewart has been acting principal since Dr Jack Mann retired in May. He joined the staff at tliejmllege as deputy principal in 1976.
He was born and went to school in Waimate, and was a student at Christchurch Teachers’ College in 1947 and 1948. He taught in schools in the Waimate and Dunedin areas before rejoining the college as a staff member in 1959. He was a lecturer at Otago University from 1964 to 1970 and sub-dean of the Arts faculty in 1969 and ;1970. Mr Stewart spent six years at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji before becoming deputy
principal of the Christchurch college. His qualifications include a masters degree in arts, a diploma of education, and an additional diploma in teaching.
