Indoor bowls battle
South Canterbury will provide Canterbury with its second challenge this year for the A. S. Paterson indoor bowls trophy at the Kearney's Road hall tomorrow.
Two changes have been made to the Canterbury team which successfully defended the trophy against Ashburton recently. Ross McCutcheon, who won the national W.M.C. singles final last month, and Noel Tomlinson, who was runner-up with McCutcheon in the pairs at the same tournament, have replaced Maurice Berkeley and Ora Bate. South Canterbury has made several changes to the
team which challenged Canterbury in last year’s contest. Norma Clements, the South Canterbury open singles champion, will play at two for Darryl Cook’s team, and the other seasoned skip, lan Hight, is joined by three newcomers: Jan Young, Rana Bleeker and Graeme Cleghorn. The teams are:— Canterbury: A. E. Williamson, L. McLennan, TomlinsOn, M. Watson; L. Bellis, V. McLeod, McCutcheon, M. Austin. South Canterbury: Hight, Cleghorn, Bleeker, Young; Cook, R. Shackel, Clements, B. Henry.
