Levies not deductible
PA Wellington Levies paid by trade unionists to support members of other unions during strikes were not tax-deduct-ible, said the Prime Minister, Mr Muldoon, yesterday. Mr Muldoon said he had been told that some unions were advising their members that the levies could be claimed as deductions when they filed their tax returns. “The Commissioner of Inland Revenue informs me that these levies are not tax-deductible,” Mr Muldoon said. “They have not been tax-deductible since 1966.” Advertisement
