Ceramics deal

PA Dunedin The Otago firm of Teal Industries, Ltd, has taken over the Nelson-based ceramics manufacturer Richmond Pottery and Ceramics, Ltd. The managing director of Teal Industries, Ltd, Mr Barry Teal, said that his company had purchased the entire shareholding of Richmond Pottery and Ceramics. Teal Industries had purchased the factory and the leases of the five South Island shops. Mr Teal said the main reason for taking Richmond over was to provide additional manufacturing capacity for Teal Industries’ other subsidiary, Teal Ceramics, Ltd. “Teal Ceramics has been engaged in the Australasian market for five years now and we had to provide additional capacity for that market as well as allow ourselves capacity to move into new export markets.”
