Hector Medal awarded

PA Dunedin The director of the Otago Museum, Dr R. R. Forster, has been awarded the Hector Memorial Medal and prize for 1983 by the Royal Society of New Zealand. The medal is awarded annually, on rotation, to New Zealand scientists who achieve distinction in any one of the plant, chemical, human, solid earth, mathematical, physical, engineering or animal sciences. Dr Forster won the medal for his long-running study of spiders, a subject on which he is regarded as a world authority.
