Dune-buggy fatality

A young Dansandel man was killed when a dune buggy rolled over on him in Highfield Road, Dunsandel, about 2 a.m. yesterday. He was Mark Peter Saunderson, aged 26, of Selwyn Lake Road. Mr Saunderson was a passenger in the dune buggy. He was thrown out in the accident and the vehicle rolled on him. The Christchurch police have released the name of the man who was struck by a train and killed at Addington on Friday evening, He was John Denny Haami, aged 54, a railway worker, of 66 Lincoln Road. The police said it appeared that Mr Haami, who had been riding a bicycle, had fallen on the tracks in front of an approaching train about 6.30 p.m. He was killed instantly.
