U.E.B. strikers seek support
Workers at the U.E.B. carpet yarn spinning factory in Bromley may get support from other U.E.B. carpet workers in Napier and Auckland in their dispute over the dismissal of union official last week. The Bromley workers yesterday voted by secret ballot to continue a strike which they began a week
ago. A spokesman for the Canterbury Woollen Workers’ Union said that officials of the New Zealand Woollen Mills, Carpet, and Hosiery Workers’ Association would convene meetings in Napier and Auckland to seek support for the Bromley workers. The dismissed worker was secretary of the plant sub-branch.
