D. H. Lawrence as priest of love

D. H. Lawrence has been called everything from one of the world’s greatest writers to a pornographer. Even today, 50 years after his death, many of his works are still the centre of controversy and debate. “Priest of Love,” which will begin at the Academy tomorrow, is a daring and passionate love story revolving around Lawrence and his wife. In order to make “Priest of Love” as faithful to the true story of Lawrence’s life

as possible, the director, Christopher Miles, has worked continuously over the last decade to acquire the rights from the Lawrence estate and to acquire permission to impersonate still-living relatives and friends. Great effort went to ensure the authenticity of the actual locations, which include Oaxaca in Mexico, Lake Garda and Florence in Italy, French Alps Maritime, London, Cornwall and the Villa Mirenda in Tuscany.
