$100,000 Guineas incentive
PA Wanganui A $lOO,OOO bonus will be an exciting incentive for three-year-olds involved in the Wanganui, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington Guineas this Spring. In promotion shared by the three lower North Island clubs the bonus will go to any runner winning the three races in a series known as the “$lOO,OOO Three-year-old Triple Crown.” In some cases the three events will have slightly different designations. The series will open on Saturday, August 27, with the $15,000 Wanganui Breeders’ Guineas.
The second leg on September 21 will be the $20,000 Okawa-Paramount Hawke’s Bay Guineas with
the series winding up on October 15 with the Wellington Guineas, which will offer a minimum stake of $22,500. With 3¥2 weeks between each event, the Triple Crown is well spaced to be a great incentive for owners and trainers to give support to the series, the Wanganui Jockey Club’s secretary, Mr lan Boyland, said.
Nominations for the first leg, the Wanganui Breeders’ Guineas, will close on August 15.
