TELETHON TELEVISION NEW ZEALAND

Old bottles and glass can be saved for Telethon. This month New Zealand Glass Manufacturers is giving all proceeds from recycled glass to Telethon. The company has 304 glass deposit centres nationally, and their addresses are available from local council offices. Christchurch residents can bring old glass to the back of the New Zealand Express Company premises in Chapman Street, Woolston. Golfers could win a golf bag and help Telethon by entering the hole-in-one competition set up by Spalding Industries in conjunction with National Insurance. The competition will be held on selected par 3 holes throughout New Zealand on June 18,19, and 25. People can check with their local golf club. Members of the Avon Beamers club are pushing a barrel round Christchurch hotels collecting for Telethon. On Saturday, June 25, they will push the barrel to Ashburton, collecting on the way, and will return to the Christchurch Town Hall the next day. Four rugby balls and four Sammes from the first test between the All Blacks and Lions are being raffled by the Rotaract Club of Christchurch. The prizes have been autographed by the Lions team and prize-winners will be announced on Telethon. Chris Campbell and Martyn Hoare plan to watch television and play Monopoly during a 48 hour hush-a-thon starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. All children 15 or under are eligible to enter the contest but must put their ideas into practice to raise money for Telethon.
