Statistics help sought
Wellington reporter Statistics of research and development in New Zealand will be investigated by the Statistics Department. The Government Statistician, Dr J. Darwin, has agreed to undertake a study of user requirements for research and development statistics, in conjunction with an investigation into the adequacy of existing statistics. He is now canvassing submissions from the public. Submissions could cover matters such as the uses made of statistics, and any gaps in coverage or areas of duplication, Dr Darwin said. He would also welcome suggested improvements in coverage, content, and timeliness.
