Record entries have been received for the Australian mathematics competition, including 14,000 from New Zealand high school pupils.
A total of 275,000 pupils have entered for the examination which will be held tomorrow. Prize money totalling sAust32,ooo has
been provided by the sponsors, as well as medals and certificates. The contest began in 1976 in Canberra and has grown to include students in New
Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, Western Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, French Polynesia, and the Solomon Islands.
