Riccarton Bush levy up

A $29,200 share of this financial year’s increased Riccarton Bush levy should be accepted by the Christchurch City Council, the policy and finance committee said yesterday. Contributing local bodies are being levied a total of $55,000 for the bush and its surroundings this year, including the Deans homestead house, compared with $44,000 last year.

Maintenance of the homestead is a big cost this year.

Under the Riccarton Bush Amendment Act, the trustees can make a $30,000 levy on local bodies, but a higher amount can be required from contributors if they agree and the Government consents.
