POSB deal to ICL

ICL has won a Post Office contract for a new Post Office Savings Bank computer system. This was announced recently by the Postmaster-General, Mr Talbot. The Minister said that the new system for the Post Office Savings Bank would provide enhanced facilities for the bank’s operations. “ICL New Zealand will supply and install the new equipment and software and provide associated services. Plans are for the work to be completed by the end of 1984 and will involve regional installations at Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

“The existing system runs on ICL System 4 computers. These have been in operation since 1975 and have now reached the end of their economic life. It is expected that the new system will provide a' - good service over the next decade,” added Mr Talbot
