‘Garden City’
Launceston, Tasmania’s second largest city, is a “garden city” set in a countryside of gentle hills, streams, hedgrows, stately mansions and stone churches.
Major attractions are the Cataract Gorge, Penny Royal Gunpowder Mill, and the new Country Club Casino. Notable half day tours are the Tamar Round Tour, Notley Fern Gorge, City Sights and Entally House at Hadspen. Like Hobart, Launceston is an historic city with many vivid reminders of its. heritage. Franklin House, one of the city’s most attractive early homes, is open to the public.
