Milestones
Camels are being used as a novel means of transport to carry guests to dinner in Alice Springs. Frontier Tours is providing the camel travel to take guests to the Chateau Hornsby Winery, the only winery in the Northern Territory. The leisurely trip takes 45 minutes. After dinner the
guests are returned to their hotels — by coach. • ♦ * * Swissair, widely regarded as the world’s top airline, made a net profit of $2O million last year, down by $7 million on its return for the previous year. Former Pan American
top executive Dan Colussy, who is now president of CP Air, is forecasting that the Canadian airline’s fortunes will improve dramatically this year to return it to the black by the end of 1984. The airline, which suffered in the North American fares war, lost $4O million last year. International scheduled airline traffic should rise about 3 per cent this year, predicts Mr Knut Hammarskjold, director-general of the International Air Transport Association. Last year
the traffic grew by only 1.2 per cent. Dean’s Clipper Tours is now operating a lively evening bus tour called “Sydney by Night.” For sAust42 a visitor can have a three course dinner and watch the “Jolly Swagman” show in the city’s historic Argyle Tavern; have a go on the “Pokies” at the Mandarin Club; sip champagne at the top of Sydney Tower, and attend ah all-male review called “Les Girls” in the heart of Kings Cross.
