Magazine in doubt

The future of New Zealand’s new house and garden magazine, “Villa,” is in doubt The manager of Wyatt and Wilson, Ltd, Mr P. W. Brown, has said that the Christchurch-based twomonthly publication was undercapitalised from the start. “Villa” is published by Kingsley Publishing, a subsidiary of his company. Outside sources of capital were being sought. In the meantime no decision had been made on whether to print .the fifth issue, which was r.’jTeady prepared. "I nave not got a bottom-

less pit to inject money into the magazine,” Mr Brown said. About 12,000 copies printed for the fourth issue had sold well throughout New Zealand, Mr Brown said. That issue was late reaching shop shelves mainly because of his own ill health. The editor of “Villa” and author of the book, “Flight 901 to Erebus,” Mr Ken Hickson, said he hoped backers would find a solution soon to keep “Villa” going in some form. He also hoped that the magazine would stay based in Christchurch.
