Auckland wool down
PA . Auckland' Prices at the Auckland wool sale yesterday were in buyers’ favour compared with the Invercargill sale last week.
Average to good wools were to 2.5 per cent cheaper, and oddments 2.5 per cent cheaper. The offering of 18,378 bales of growers’ wool, plus 4056 bales of Wool Board “stock,” was 82 per cent second-shear, 12 per cent oddments, and the rest miscellaneous types. Yields were higher than normal, because of recent wet weather. Competition was well spread, Eastern Europe and New Zealand scouring mer-
chants being the main buyers. Good support came from the Middle East. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 285.57 c a kilogram. Based on this, a Government supplementary payment of 12.1 per cent will apply to all wool sold at the sale, and all wool sold privately from midnight on June 1 to midnight on June 9. The market indicator was 286 c. Official range of prices:— Second-shear Crossbred Hogget, 48/50s (longer): Good 320 fe 333 Average to good 306 to 319 Average 292 to 305
