Inquiries tax office

The Inland Revenue Department in Christchurch had 107 calls from wage and salary earners inquiring about their tax returns in a two-hour period on Monday evening. A spokesman for the department said that ‘the callers inquired about a wide range of tax problems. Tax officers answered another 56 inquiries on Tuesday evening. Calls lasting 45 minutes were not uncommon, said the spokesman. The telephone answering service will resume on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 7 and 8, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., on telephone 798-500.
