Methanol vehicle trial
A number of North Canterbury Hospital Board vehicles will be converted and run on methanol under a Liquid Fuels Trust Board trial. The Hospital Board has been told that its finance committee has agreed to take part in the motor vehicle fleet methanol trial involving eight or 12 of the board’s vehicles for about two years.
Selected vehicles, compatible with similar vehicles in the North Island, will be converted to bum 99 per cent methanol, available at, a Christchurch outlet reasonably close to the hospital board’s central garage. The Liquid Fuels Trust Board, established by an act of Parliament, will recompense fleet owners for all expenses connected with the trial.
