Riverlands plant to be expanded
Bunting and Company, Ltd, intends to complete the Riverlands meat processing plant near Blenheim, by adding meat packing and blast freezing facilities for use in exports, the company announced yesterday. The Riverlands plant was acquired when Bunting took over the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Ltd. Bunting had formed a
new subsidiary company, Riverlands Foods, Ltd, to concentrate on the processing and marketing of meat and horticultural products. The Riverlands processing plant would handle beef, lamb, mutton, and pork, and the new subsidiary company would also market products from its joint venture with Talley’s Fisheries, Ltd, at Motueka, where canning facilities had been installed.
