Situations Vacant ©Ministry of Agriculture & fisheries CONSULTANT FISHERIES BIOLOGIST, RANGITATA RIVER A fisheries biologist Is re.qulred to carry out field work, and collate existing information, on the fishery resources of the Rangitata River, with emphasis on the salmon stocks. The information is required for input into the Rangitata River Water Allocation Plan, scheduled for revision in late 1984. The successful applicant will probably be based at Temuka, although writing up of the survey will be at Fisheries Research Division’s laboratory in Christchurch. A considerable amount of time will be spent in the field. Technical supervision will be by FRD staff, with salary, equipment and field assistance provided by the South Island Council of the Acclimatisation Society movement. Research Contract: The'study is for one year commencing on August 1, 1983. Fees will be dependent upon qualifications and experience, but will be based on Public Service rates with a margin in lieu of overtime.
