Butcher shop burglaries
Four Christchurch butchers’ shops were burgled on Wednesday night, but the police said it would only be speculation to say that the burglaries were linked.
Small quantities of meat and petty cash were stolen from each of the butcheries, in Colombo Street, Riccarton Road, and Staveley Street and Merrin, Avonhead. Thieves took a $7OO engagement ring and a 10speed bicycle from a house in Stapletons Road, Shirley, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
