Injury puts O’Hara in doubt for Kiwi team
NZPA Sydney A groin strain is worrying the New Zealand Englishbased rugby league winger, Dane O’Hara, who is expected to play in next month’s test series with Australia. O’Hara trained lightly yesterday with the English club, Hull, during its stopover in Sydney enroute to New Zealand for the start of its four-match end-of-season Australian and New Zealand tour. O’Hara will speak with the New Zealand coach, Graham Lowe, when Hull arrives in Auckland today. Lowe, who took over from Ces Mountford this year as Kiwi test coach, announces his side on Sunday, for the first test in Auckland on Sunday, June 12.
Hull’s other two Kiwi stars, the fullback, Gary Kemble, and the centre, James Leuluai, are both keen to play for New Zealand, which seems certain to call on most of its established stars in England and Australia, including the Sorensen brothers, Kurt and Dane. Mark Broadhurst has reportedly reversed an earlier decision and intends turning out for New Zealand this year.
