Badminton Leading teams untroubled

The three leading bad minton teams, Railway, Bryndwr I, and South Brighton I, all continued their happy start to the A grade competition, retaining their 100 per cent records with wins at the Skellerup Hall on Saturday. The fourth winner of the day was Hagley I, which leaves a gap between the top and bottom half of the table of 16 points. Any prospects of Railway having a struggle against South Brighton II evaporated when the South Brighton side was forced to default three of its eight matches. Railway made short work of the remainder to notch up its second 8-0 success in the four rounds of play. Bryndwr I stayed handily placed with a 6-2 win over the club’s No. 2 team, winning all four singles matches. Interestingly, it was a family affair. The Chambers brothers, Mark and Steven, beat the Reid brothers, Mark and David, while ' Wendy Duder and her younger sister, Paula Thorpe, also recorded victories.

South Brighton I crushed Christchurch, 7-1, the only defeat coming in the top men’s singles where Andrew Duckmanton finally overcame Presanna Gulasekharam in three sets.
