Cycling win
PA Wellington Canterbury’s Alan Hood was a clear over-all winner at the New Zealand veterans 40km time trial road cycling championships at Featherston on Saturday.
Hood, aged 37, rode 59min 32s in a gale, to head off last year’s over-all winner, Arthur Candy, of Rotorua, by Imin 48s. Candy’s Rotorua clubmate, Jack Foster, known as a prominent marathon runner, was third. Hood has established a good record in the South Island, and has been a member Of the highly successful Papanui club in Hope Gibbons teams’ ‘time trialing.
