Rugby injuries
The loss of a complete hree-quarter line has orced the Mid-Canterbury ugby selector, Mr Brian Sampson, to rethink his team for the match against Canterbury Sub Unions at Rakaia on Wednesday. Allan Faith, one wing, burst a blood vessel in an nkle on Saturday, while the other wing, Geoff Frew, injured ankle ligaments. The centre, Murray Young, has hamstring problems. * Ironically, Frew’s injury means he will have to wait at least one game before playing his 50th first class match, which will be his 49th first class game for his union. It could allow his brother, Warren, to also play his 50th first class match on the same day, for he will be playing his 49th against Sub Unions. The team for Wednesday will be: Murray Holmes, Alan Edge, John Mudgeway, Peter McLay, Murray McLeod, Murray Roulston; Paul Williams, Paul Cunneenjii Alistair Morrison, Allan; Hill, Jock Ross, Warren 'Frew, John McLay,
Grant Perry and Huia Gordon.
The reserves are: forwards; Noel Sutton, Bruce Parkin, Bill Thomas, Andy McNabb, Jim Breading; backs; John Bennett, Alan Grieve, Royce Worsfold.
