Red Cross appeal
Sir, — The annual Red Cross house-to-house appeal held in Christchurch and surrounding country areas between April 26 and 30 is expected to result in a record total of $78,000, or about $2OOO above the total last year. The society is most grateful for such public generosity in difficult economic times. The successful collection was made possible by the many hundreds of adults and schoolchildren who gave their services as collectors and and the society thanks them sincerely. In a few suburbs the society was unable to achieve blanket coverage because of insufficient collectors. Uncollected envelopes may be left at chemist shops or forwarded to the society’s North Canterbury Centre, 33 Cashel Street, (P.O. Box 217). — Yours, etc.,
J. R. MAHONEY, Secretary-Manager, North Canterbury Centre, N.Z. Red Cross Society (Inc.) May 5, 1983.
