Frank Spencer as ‘Condorman’

Michael Crawford (above) finds his drink difficult to swallow as Barbara Carrera looks on in “Condorman”, a comic-adventure from Walt Disney Productions which will start at the Savoy tomorrow.

Crawford does not seem to have changed all that much since his days as Frank Spencer in “Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em.”

“I may be more well known in England as Frank Spencer than Michael Crawford,” he admits. “It seems that everyone has a relative just like Frank, a likeable bumbler with all sorts of odd mannerisms.” So pronounced were Crawford’s daft mannerisms in the role that they are now known by the English as “Spencerisms”. In “Condorman”, he plays a comic book artist who lives the super-hero lives that he creates for his characters. Of course, this can also get him into a lot of trouble.
