The first ‘Mad Max’ is coming
“Mad Max,” the Australian film banned in New Zealand since 1979, will get its first showings in Christchurch at the Carlton from May 27. Under today’s censorship regulations, “Mad Max” was eligible for reconsideration after February of 1983, when it was again submitted to the censors. The film has now been passed, uncut, with an RlB certificate and a rider as to its violent content. New Zealand, thus, achieves the dubious distinction of being the last English speaking country to see what has now become a cult classic amongst serious movie goers.
