Agreement on redundancies
A redundancy agreement has been reached between T. J. Edmonds, Ltd, and trade unions representing about 11 workers who will become redundant when the company shifts a production line to Auckland in June.
The agreement was accepted by the workers at a meeting at the Ferry Road factory yesterday. Formal redundancy notices are expected to be given on May 2, giving the workers concerned at least one month’s notice. The unions still dispute the numbers required to be laid off.
