Smith replaces Allen

PA Wellington The Canterbury first fiveeighths, Wayne Smith, was named yesterday to replace the injured Aucklander, Nicky Allen, in the All Black trial at Athletic Park on May 7. Smith, the 1980 and 1983 New Zealand representative, has been promoted by the New Zealand Rugby Union from the trial reserves and a North Auck-

lander, lan Dunn, has been included in the reserves. Allen is a doubtful starter for the trial after breaking a bone in his wrist playing for Auckland B in last Saturday’s centennial curtainraiser against a Vice-Presi-dent’s XV. Also doubtful is the Auckland full-back, David Halligan, who left the field during Saturday’s centennial matches and is suspected to have viral hepatitis.
