Attack in Opawa
Two men .were injured, one seriously, when they were attacked by a group of arnied men in an Opawa house on Saturday evening. Four men, armed with a shotgun, a rifle, a baseball bat and a sword, broke into the house about 10.30 p.m.
In a scuffle which followed, two men who were with aiidther group inside the house suffered head injuries and were taken to Christchurch Hospital. One man later underwent surgery in the hospital’s neurosurgery unit.
No shots were fired in the incident, although some money was taken. The police did not release any names or say how much money had been stolen. Both injured men were seriously ill last evening.
