DEC symposium
The Australia chapter of the Digital Equipment Computer Users Society (DECUS) is holding its annual symposium this year at the University of Auckland, from August 29 to September 2. DECUS is the biggest computer users’ society in the world with a membership of about 67,000. Its Australia Chapter covers both Australia and New Zealand, with more than* 3000 members. The Auckland symposium will be the first DECUS symposium in New Zealand since 1979, when it jras held in Christchurch. Hie 400 New Zealand DECUS mem-
bers will have the opportunity to benefit from the gathering of international users and Digital Equipment Corporation marketing and technical expertise. ,At least 350 delegates are expected from Australia, New Zealand and overseas. In addition there will be a contingent of software and hardware experts from DEC' in the United States as well as representatives from various DEC product lines. ' The symposium structure will be composed of formal papers, tutorials, workshops and informal question and answer sessions. There will also be an . exhibition of DEC products and services.
