M.P. wants more school computers
Parliamentary reporter A visit to Singapore has convinced the member of Parliament for Helensville, Mr Dail Jones, that the Government should supply computers to secondary schools. Mr Jones said he spent a day visiting Singaporean educational institutions and was impressed by their computer education facilities. “The Singaporeans are leading the way and New Zealanders will only see their declining standard of
living reduced even further unless a positive policy is introduced by the Government,” Mr Jones said. Secondary schools should be provided with a minimum of five micro computers. Schools with rolls in excess of 800 should get more on the basis of one micro computer per 100 pupils. Mr Jones said he would visit Australia in May to study computer education methods used in Australian schools. _____
